REPORT: Player who is looking to get TRADED - REFUSES to go to any Canadian teams

It's been an issue in the past few seasons to get players to want to play in the Canadian markets.

One thing could be that Canadian teams haven't won a Stanley Cup since 1993, and every player wants to be part of a winner.

Another thing could be the fact that Canadian taxes are ridiculous compared to some of the American markets and players want to actually receive the money they earn instead of giving it all to the government.

Lastly for a few players, the threat of COVID lockdowns in Canada has prevented quite a few players from coming to Canadian markets and actually brought some players like Jeff Petry to want to leave them.

One of these might be the case for defenceman Jake McCabe who is in the second year of a 4 year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks who wants to be moved to a contender. Currently he has a 7 team no-trade-clause as part of his contract, and per this NHL Insider, all 7 of those teams could be the Canadian teams.

Elliotte Friedman says he's not convinced D Jake McCabe wants to be in Canada at all, and his 7 team no trade clause may be every Canadian team.

The Oilers have interest, but it's unlikely it happens. Friedman isn't convinced he has any interest in waiving his NTC to go to Edmonton.

McCabe is a former second round pick of the Buffalo Sabres back in 2012, and has formed into a great top 4 defenceman in the NHL.
