REPORT: EDMONTON OILERS GOALIE FAILS HIS PHYSICAL - GOING ON LTIR

SEP 21, 2022  (14H16)      RYAN
For years now the Edmonton Oilers biggest flaw was their goaltending. Last season the Oilers made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals before getting swept by the eventual Stanley Cup Champions, the Colorado Avalanche.

At the end of the season, the goaltending duo of Mike Smith and Mikko Koskinen had reportedly played their last games in an Oilers sweater. Koskinen signed in Europe and it was rumoured that Mike Smith was going to miss the upcoming season due to ''injury''.

Today it was confirmed that Smith would miss next season as General Manager Ken Holland announced that Smith failed his physical.

Ken Holland said that Mike Smith failed his physical and returned to Kelowna, B.C. He'll be LTIR bound.

The Oilers went out and got the second best goalie available in free agency in Jack Campbell who was released from the Toronto Maple Leafs this offseason to replace Smith.

Smith's career started off a little rocky but 10 years after being drafted, in 2011 he really came into form with the Phoenix Coyotes.

If this is the end of Smith's career, he definitely had one to be proud of.
WILL SMITH PLAY AGAIN?
