Early this morning the Colorado Avalanche and their AHL franchise the Colorado Eagles made the shocking announcement that they would be suspending one of their players indefinitely.

A former fifth round pick in 2018, Danil Zhuravlyov, who joined the Eagles this season, decided to leave and go back to Russia.

According to NHL Insider Adrian Dater, the prospect is going back for ''personal reasons.''

The #Avalanche have suspended prospect Danila Zhuravlyov due to him opting to return to Russia for "personal and family-related reasons."

Zhuravlyov, 22, was drafted 146th overall by Colorado in 2018. He has one assist through 14 games played as a defenseman with the Colorado Eagles (AHL) in his first season in North America.

Zhuravlyov's entry-level contract runs through the 2023-24 season. If it becomes clear that Zhuravlyov will not return to the Avalanche organization, a mutual termination is entirely possible.
