The Colorado Avalanche finally won the Stanley Cup last season after year after year of disappointment during the MacKinnon era. They were a dominant team in the playoffs, only losing 4 games total through the 4 rounds.

But now, here we are in the next season, and they are at risk of being the first team since the LA Kings to win the Stanley Cup and miss the playoffs the next season. They are currently 4 points out of a wild card position and falling fast as they are 3-6-1 in their last 10.

The Avalanche have been battling injuries all season, which is one of the biggest reasons for their lack of success this season, and it may have just gotten worse.

According to the reports, Avalanche forward Darren Helm could be done for the season. The Avalanche's head coach Jared Bednar told reports that his current injury is related to the previous one that held him out of the start of the year, and he is going to miss some time.

The #Avalanche could be without Darren Helm for the rest of the season, from the same injury that kept him out all season up until January.

Helm played in all 20 games of the playoff run last season and provided some valuable bottom 6 minutes. While many will be quick to point out that he isn't a major point producer, sometimes those bottom 6 minutes are just as valuable as the top 6.
