Ian White is proof that no matter what you experience in your life. You always have the ability to overcome things, even if you experience tragedy.

White, now 38, is a veteran of 503 NHL games, has officially signed a contract to continue his hockey career with the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL.

This isn't Whites' first team this season in as the defender played 19 games for the Motor City Rockets of the FPHL. In 25 games for the Rockets, he scored 19 points.

Less than 2 years ago White found himself homeless and battling addiction, a battle that cost him his hockey career.

White has shared he became heavily dependent on pain killers and pill, due to an injury to his leg that required surgery. He was then prescribed Oxycontin, which he never stopped using. Now clean, White is back playing the game he loves.
