We are over 20 games into the season for most teams and while a majority of them have full rosters, there are some veteran players who would still like to continue their hockey careers and are signing PTO's with American Hockey League teams to prove they still have what it takes to play professional hockey.

A few weeks ago we saw the Flyers AHL franchise sign Artem Anisimov to a PTO, and now the Detroit Red Wings AHL team, the Grand Rapids Griffins have signed this Cup Champion to a PTO.

The Grand Rapids Griffins announced today that they have signed Alex Chiasson to a PTO.

Chiasson won the Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals back in 2018 where he contributed a big goal against the Pittsburgh Penguins to help eliminate them in game 6.

Since winning the Stanley Cup he has played on the Edmonton Oilers where he scored 20+ goals in a season and put up 13 goals last year for the Vancouver Canucks.

This is a great depth signing for the Red Wings.
