BREAKING: Rangers Defenseman Misses The Rest Of The Season After Surgery

BY JAMES CONNELLY    NOVEMBER 21, 2023  (12:17)
The New York Rangers are losing one of their depth defensemen for the rest of the season following him getting surgery.

Rangers Lose Harpur Following Pectoral Surgery

Yesterday it was announced that depth Rangers defenseman Ben Harpur underwent season-ending pectoral surgery.

Harpur was injured on November 3rd after this play where he scored a goal:

Harpur was playing in the AHL to start the year after failing to make the Rangers opening night lineup. He was seen as one of the first defensemen the Rangers could call up if they needed to shake things up.

He has just under 200 career games in the NHL over seven seasons. He played in 42 games with the Rangers last year scoring one goal and seven points. He is currently in the first year of a two-year deal with the Rangers where he makes just above the league minimum.

The Rangers will now likely be in the market for a depth defenseman and this injury could ignite them to a make a trade for one mid-season.
