When the Montreal Canadiens finished last this season, the only hope they had was winning the draft lottery. Which luckily they did and get to draft first overall at the upcoming NHL entry draft.
While coming into this season, the undisputed first overall pick from Kingston Frontenacs center Shane Wright, but over the last few months, two other players have made a large jump in the draft rankings. Those two players are, Logan Cooley who has a previously relationship with Kent Hughes, and Slovakian sniper Juraj Slavkovsky.
Slavkovsky is rumoured to be the most NHL ready of all the players in the draft and he has stated multiple times that he would be the perfect partner for Nick Suzuki
and Cole Caufield
According to Jean Perron, a contact of his confirmed that the Canadiens will not be selecting the projected #1 pick Shane Wright and instead will be selecting Juraj Slavkovsky.
